HapVR ("we", "us", "our") operates the website hapvr.com and the ResearchRadar platform at research.hapvr.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information in connection with our services.

ResearchRadar indexes academic researcher profiles drawn from publicly accessible sources including university websites, academic databases (Google Scholar, DBLP, IEEE Xplore, ACM Digital Library, ResearchGate), institutional pages, and published papers. This includes names, institutional affiliations, research areas, publication records, and citation metrics. This data is processed under the legitimate interest basis (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) and equivalent provisions under the Korean Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), as it serves the public interest of advancing academic research and education.

b) Information You Provide
If you contact us via the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message content for the purpose of responding to your enquiry.

c) Usage Data
We may collect anonymised technical data such as browser type, pages visited, and approximate geographic region to improve the platform. This data cannot identify you individually.

2. How We Use Information

- To operate and improve the ResearchRadar platform
- To display academic research profiles for educational and research purposes
- To respond to enquiries submitted through our contact form
- To monitor platform performance and detect abuse

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

Researcher Profile Data: We process publicly available academic data on the basis of legitimate interests — specifically, supporting the academic research community and facilitating connections between researchers, students, and institutions. This is a recognised purpose under GDPR Article 6(1)(f) and PIPA Article 15(1)(6).

Contact Form Data: Processed with your consent when you voluntarily submit a message.

Usage Data: Processed for our legitimate interest in operating and improving the platform.

4. Researcher Data and Your Rights (for Academics Listed)

If your academic profile appears on ResearchRadar and you wish to:
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request removal of your profile
- Understand the source of your data

Please contact us at contact@hapvr.com. We will respond within 14 days and take appropriate action. Removal requests from academic researchers will be honoured within a reasonable timeframe.

5. Data Accuracy

We make reasonable efforts to keep academic data accurate. However, publication counts, h-index scores, and affiliation information are sourced from third-party databases and may not reflect the most current information. We are not responsible for inaccuracies in source data. Researchers may contact us to request corrections.

6. Cookies

We use only essential technical cookies necessary to operate the platform. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. No cookie consent is required as we do not use non-essential cookies.

7. Data Transfers

Our services are operated from South Korea. If you access the platform from outside Korea, your information may be processed in jurisdictions where data protection laws may differ. By using our services you acknowledge this.

8. Data Retention

Publicly indexed academic data is retained as long as the platform is operational. Contact form messages are deleted after 12 months. You may request earlier deletion at any time.

9. Children's Privacy

This platform is not directed at children under 14. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.

We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be noted with a revised "Last updated" date.
